Google Instant and SEO

After the launch of Google instant on September 8th, 2010,aiming to save users 2-5 seconds per query.

There was much debate about its impact in terms of search. What were the effects so far?

Infact, it is too soon to tell any noticable impact and the real impact is yet to be seen.

Noting that instant is not yet available for many users, which suggests that most of the data available so far can not paint an accurate picture of its effects on search trends, because it is totally different from the standard Google searches.

Google instant has effected the way people used to search in search engines.

Comparing the duration of the queries, the search queries of two words are at 10.3 percent on Instant instead of 14.5 percent in the Google standard, while the queries in three words are 18 per cent as compared with 22 per cent in Google Standard, respectively.

In actual Google Instant has changed the way people search, but until it becomes clear how many people will actually use it, it's just something to monitor.

Google Instant is Really Fast

You can do all the work in the world to gain a ton of back-links, but only if you stick to one type of back-link, as by posting guest articles or submitting to article directories, then you're not going to get to their web. You need backlinks at full potential if you want rankings in search engines.

As a webmaster , you need to adapt the changes that Google and other Search Engines implement, on regular basis. Continuous change, is the best part of the online industry means that nobody is safe and there is always room for improvement and opportunity.

Seasonal SEO? Ever Considered about it?

As a business owner and having a web based business you need to think ahead. To make the most of the festive seasons , it is a must that you consider about Seasonal SEO.

What is Seasonal SEO?

Seasonal SEO is the term given to SEO strategies being used to optimize and make the most of a business website in festive seasons. It may take some time for the changes in the optimization strategies to have an impact in different seasons.

So if you really want to increase your sales this Christmas you need to start thinking about SEO now.

Importance of Seasonal SEO

Competition for attracting customers is particularly strong during the festive period. Although consumer spending, of course, jumps, it can be more difficult for less established companies for their slice of the pie.

On the other hand, however, in the current climate, a growing number of customers are willing to shop around for a good deal, rather than staying with any output that most commonly choose. This creates some interesting opportunities that are potentially valuable to online retailers. If you want to take advantage of these opportunities you need to increase your visibility - and SEO is the principal means by which most online retailers can achieve this.

Focus on keywords and link building
Chances are you've identified this year most demanding product in your industry. This is one of the most important keyword you have to concentrate. You can promote your cause by writing articlesm themed 'linkbait' blog, and develop internal strategies to create back links using the product name as the text reference.

As a rule of thumb, you should avoid using descriptions of the manufacturers of standard products on your site. These are rarely written with SEO in mind, and can seriously damage your optimization efforts. Instead, concentrate on writing the product description carefully constructed that hit all the relevant keywords.

Take Advantage of Social Media

The social media is an increasingly important aspect of any marketing campaign. Use socila media sites like Twitter and Facebook to drive traffic and increase conversions during the season.

You can choose, for example, to hold a competition on Facebook. The users tag a photo in or join their group in exchange for the chance to win a prize. Alternatively, invite all his followers in line for an event in your store (if any). Put on some entertainment and offer a discount on all purchases for the evening. Events and promotions of this type can help you make the most of your existing online communities.

Use Pay-Per-Click

Given that Christmas really is just around the corner, you may not have time for your optimization efforts to kick in. In these cases, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising will really come into its own.

You can improve your chances of appearing at the top of search results by bidding on relevant keywords. These keywords, probably (but not necessarily) be the same for which you are optimizing your content. Overall, the PPC campaigns should focus on products for which you anticipate that there will be greater demand, and where margins are higher.

Remember that Google AdWords is not the only channel PPC. Depending on the nature of your business you may want to consider buying ads on sites like Facebook.

Be sure to monitor your PPC campaigns closely over the festive period and much more. Often, you can greatly improve your click-through rates, with a relatively modest change to its strategy.

Conversions should be your Goal

Finally, you should always bear in mind that the purpose of campaigns is not just to direct traffic. Rather, it has to be always with the aim of turning leads into sales. To improve your chances of doing it you need to optimize not only its content but the site itself.

There are a variety of tools available to help improve user experience and conversion rates. For example, you can use one of the many free tools available AB test to help assess the impact of a new landing page design. Alternatively, you can use the mouse tracking tools to help understand how users interact with your site where you are clicking, and being ignored.

Christmas is a big business for online retailers. If you need to make the most of the potential increase in your earning that can come with the festive season, you have to start acting now.

Free Onpage SEO Auditor - (FireFox Add on)

SEO refers to techniques for improving the visibility of a website in search engines. Most Internet marketers divide it into two categories: offpage and onpage SEO .
Onpage optimization refers to optimization of web site pages, while offpage SEO influences the visibility of a website on third party sites.

Onpage optimization is often a consideration when developing a site, and tested again after the site is launched. Some webmasters prefer a web audit regularly, though usually onpage SEO is not required constantly, unless the code or design have all been changed.

SEO PhD, is a free Firefox add-on for auditing onpage optimization of a website. The tool displays different information in the status bar of Firefox / Add-on bar that give the webmaster direct assessments of the level of onpage optimization of a site.

SEO Doctor uses Google's guidelines for onpage SEO to calculate the score of a page. Each band has a score of 0 to 100, with 100 being the best.

A click on the information in the status bar divides the score, showing optimized, semi-optimized and unoptimized page elements.

Additional information appears for each item that is part of the final score. For example, the element of classification for the H1 tag shows the number of H1 tags on the page, and an explanation that only one H1 tag should be displayed on each page of the site.

Each entry contains a "more information" link for additional information on the developer's website. The add-on calculate the score of a site on the basis of following factors:

• Flow Page Rank
• Web Analytics
• Description Meta
• Number of connections
• H2 Tag
• H1 tag
• Page indexable
• SEO friendly URLs
• Image ALT Tags
• Charging time
• Title Tag
Some webmasters may choose an audit that goes into more detail, but this is usually not necessary for most. Webmasters who need every minute details about onpage SEO of their website may want to consider getting a more sophisticated tool, but most webmasters should be fine with SEO Doctor.

There's something missing that can make a big impact on the visibility of a site in search engines? That is: OffPage Factor

Another interesting option of the add-on is to display linking information. The add-on lists the total number of links, and divides into internal and external links. All links are listed on the same page, sorted by count and percentage values.

Links can be exported to CSV, to analyze them further. A right-click on the add-on status bar displays a context menu with dozens of options. It offers quick access to various SEO metrics that are used frequently. It can indicate the number of pages indexed in Google (which is not very accurate), open the page in Yahoo Siteexplorer, Alexa opened, Competing, AdPlanner, favor or Web Trends traffic statistics, conducting various studies showing website backlinks in Yahoo Siteexplorer, performing various diagnostic tools link or open the analysis page SEMRush page.

Quick links may be very valuable for the performance of the search engine. SEO Doctor is available as an add-on for the Firefox browser. It is one of the most sophisticated SEO add-ons for Web browser, and is highly recommended. Webmasters can disable the status bar information at any time, which is great because it is too dominant in the status bar.

Getting most out of Adsense

To get the most out of your adsense units and to make more income with your adsense, follow some tried and tested rules below:

Use the default ad unit
Default 300x250 ad unit will make the most money. There is no reason that Google has set it as the default size ... because it is better than any other ad unit in term of conversions. Try it and Learn!

Try to use one ad unit into the web page
More than one ad unit that will actually lower your page liabilities. This could be counter-intuitive, but it is true. The ad units closest to the top of the page drive more traffic.

Place your ad units directly on top of content

People normally tend to look at the left most corner of the page when it laods. There are more chances to get best CTR, if your AdSense units are aligned to the left, directly above content fold.

Implement the techniques discussed above and share your experiences. Would love to hear from you!
